French Beans, Blue lake
I grow ‘Blue Lake Stringless’ beans here at Andy’s Greens and are picked by hand at their best—fresh, tender, and full of flavour. These long, deep green beans are known for being naturally stringless, which means they’re beautifully easy to eat with no tough fibres, just crisp sweetness in every bite.
They have a clean, fresh flavour that feels like summer on the plate. Lightly steamed, they stay bright and snappy; tossed into a warm salad they soak up dressings beautifully; or simply served with a little butter, sea salt, and lemon, they make a simple dish feel special.
What makes this variety stand out is its balance of tenderness and substance. It holds its shape when cooked, but still melts in the mouth when fresh-picked, making it a favourite for both quick midweek meals and more thoughtful, seasonal cooking.
Grown with care and harvested regularly at Andy’s Greens, these beans are at their best when eaten soon after picking—offering that just-picked sweetness you rarely find in shop-bought produce.
